Warning: You must be fully prepared for a ham radio test!

  • Practice!  Be sure you are consistently scoring above an 85% on practice tests.
  • Know the material!  You should be able to complete the exam within 30 minutes, however there is no time limit. Most questions are short and simple concepts.
  • Practice Sites : We recommend either  HamStudy.org , a free site with lots of tips, or  ARRL Exam Review for Ham Radio ™, a free site from the national ham radio group that you may want to join.

**  Please Note that you are now Required to get an FRN – FCC Registration Number, before testing, in order to fill out the paperwork and take your first test.  Getting a FRN is free and you can do it online at the FCC Website –   https://apps.fcc.gov/cores/userLogin.do

If you have questions, contact Eric Layman at AA0EL@yahoo.com or 970-209-8718

Additional Testing Option:

MARC does not conduct on-line exams. We’ve found on-line exams take more club time and resources than simply doing in-person testing.

However, if you are interested in taking your exam on-line,  HamStudy  provides a tool to locate an online exam.
Specifically, we found the on-line testing offered by WAVE  and  WM7X  to be exceptional.
